Wow, been so long so long so long… So long that I can’t even think of what song that line is from!!! Oh yes, David Bowie! Here you go! Let’s start this off on the right note.
Whew, anyway, I think I’m back. I see that my last post was March 16 at which time two of my sons had both just come out of the hospital for different reasons. I had about a month of dipping my toe back into some soundwork- exploring the technology to offer some Healing Sound Journeys and personal healing sessions on Zoom and then, kaboom. All came to a screeching halt as it became apparent that my son Ben out in Salt Lake City was going to require surgery. The way it unfolded, without going into detail, I drove out to Utah the beginning of May, Ben had surgery on May 12 and I thought I’d be leaving by the end of the month. His recovery was looking good. Then things took a turn and he had to go back into the hospital. They eventually figured out what the secondary issue was but he spent about another ten days in the hospital and I didn’t get home til the beginning of July.
I had planned to be teaching continuing education workshops in Florida- or online depending on the Covid situation- during the months of June and July but that was clearly not happening. I was totally exhausted when I got back. A week after I got home I had a wonderful 6 day visit from my 11 year-old granddaughter, Patience, who flew out by herself from Minneapolis, which was fun and restorative.
About a week after Patience left I flew out to Minneapolis for the- second- wedding of my son Moose and his wife Jenny!!! On June 20, 2020 they were married outdoors in their back yard in Minneapolis with 5 of us in attendance. This year they were finally able to have the wedding they had been dreaming of on August 7, after all their friends and family had been vaccinated! It was a beautiful wonderful magical week of gatherings with family and extended family and love and celebration. Their love has brought so many people together- and i don’t have one good picture of the two of them to post here- at least not from this wedding! Waiting for the ones from the wedding photographer- so for now I’ll have to post one from last summer’s wedding.
Last but not least- what really pushed me to my website today was finding a video on my YouTube channel of Papa Malick Faye teaching a drumming class at my sound healing center in St. Petersburg, FL. i owned and operated the Sound Body Wholistic Health Center from 2005-2012. There were so many wonderful teachers and gatherings of all kinds related to healing sound and music. Papa Malick Faye is a master drummer from Senegal and a fantastic teacher, who taught a weekly class at the center for at least a year, maybe longer. He is teaching a rhythm here called Lamba, a beautiful and simple healing rhythm. So get out your drum or a bucket or a table top and find your rhythm!
